WhatWeDo

The Solution…

We are a program of attraction. We make sure to keep a strong balance of serious work and serious fun, because we love working with people who WANT to be part of Cornerstone.

1.

“Who comes?”

Kids from ages 13 to 19, and parents of all ages. Some kids come without parents. Some kids come without parents. Just come.

2.

“What kinds of treatments do you have?”

We have a wide variety of therapies, from strict behavioral (second stage groups and gender groups) to cognitive behavioral (Individual and family therapy) to dialectic behavioral (Intensive Outpatient).

3.

“What do the parents do?”

Parents learn to regain control of their homes and their lives by working together in 12-step meetings, step-studies, retreats, functions, and multifamily groups.

4.

“What do the kids do?”

Kids find their self-respect and self-esteem, have  amazing fun in sobriety, and learn how to be a friend and a leader through meetings, sponsorship, retreats, the satellite, functions, and retreats.

5.

“What is the outreach program?”

The Outreach Program includes all of the activities that lead us to health but are not therapy, such as 12-step meetings, retreats, the satellite program, social functions, and step-studies.

6.

“How did Cornerstone get started?”

7.

“What is an Alternative Peer Group (APG)?”

An alternative peer group is a support group that is different from the kids teens would typically have been hanging out with when they’re using drugs and alcohol. It’s based on the concept that sober, healthy, fun people will probably have a positive impact on the child.  The two things that influence an adolescent are their peer group and their parents. We provide kids with a well-supervised peer group to replace the unhealthy one they were hanging around with before.
